ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY

Zhana Nedelcheva was born in Bulgaria, Europe. In 1994 she graduated from Kazanlak Art College with major in design. Sveti Kliment Ohridski University in Sofia has been her next educational endeavor. In 1999 she successfully completed her studies with specialization in Arts literacy and emphasis on sculpture, artistic ceramics and orthodox iconography. During the consecutive years Zhana taught ceramics and painting at Stara Zagora Fine Arts School.

Since 1999 the artist has been actively engaged in Traditional and Youth exhibitions of collage, painting, paper and ceramic sculpture. Ceramics has remained her ardent passion. A number of group exhibitions in cooperation with Boncho Todorov and Ivan Dimitrov depicted the monumentality and color vivacity of her sculptural ceramics and tiles. In 2004 she was awarded Young artist of the Year prize for her solo ceramics exhibition at Ikar gallery. The same year she attended two residenses in Bulgaria and Macedonia.

Since 2005 Zhana Nedelcheva has based her artwork in Vancouver, Canada. The cosmopolitan city has revealed the magic of the handmade paper and inspired her to create Moods collage cycle. In addition, a Kama Sutra cycle in paintings and ceramics was born as a result of her artistic experiments and reflections.
